These books! What a fabulous reading week!
Four made me cry.
Five made me LOL.
All inspired me.
Remy Lai is one of the most creative, funny people creating books for kids. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK did not disappoint. The black-and-white illustrations, with occasional red blotches, worked so well. Get on Bookshop.org or Purchase on Amazon.
OLIVETTI by Allie Millington is a dual-perspective book between Ernest and his mom’s typewriter. After his mom disappears and pawns Olivetti, Ernest steals the typewriter back. Working with the pawnshop owner’s daughter, the unlikely trio pieces together clues hoping to find Beatrice. Wonderful. Get at Bookshop.org or Purchase on Amazon.
I picked up THE CANYON’S EDGE yesterday at our library. My friendly librarian warned me it would rip my heart out. Dusti Bowling writes a gripping survival tale I read in one sitting! Fans of ALONE by Megan E. Freeman check this one out! Get Canyon’s Edge on Bookshop or at Amazon. Links for Alone:
WINK by Rob Harrell is a laugh-out-loud funny book about a boy diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer. It’s also vulnerable and heartwarming. Highly recommend. Available on Bookshop or Amazon.
Chrissie Wright raved about THE UNDERDOGS OF UPSON DOWNS and LONE WOLF GOES TO SCHOOL. Reader, listen to her. She’s not steered me wrong yet.
Craig Silvey has written a heartfelt story of two outsiders. Annie is determined to help her family take care of the overdraft on the overdraft with the help of her dog, Runt. Read it! You can purchase on Bookshop or Amazon.
Kiah Thomas writes a hilarious story about an introvert who just can’t catch a break and K-Fai Steele’s illos are delightful!! LONE WOLF is a chapter book series I am excited to share with the little ones in my life. The books are available on Bookshop, Amazon, and of course, at your local library!
